Data Centre Site Lead, Hyperscale Connectivity Deployments

EMEA / APAC, site-based

About the role

You'll lead our data centre connectivity deployments on site, in multi-megawatt hyperscale and AI data halls across EMEA and Asia-Pacific. You run the installation day to day: the crews, the method, the quality and the safety, from the first containment walk to the last link handed over.

What you'll own

  • Day-to-day delivery on site: crew planning, sequencing and daily targets against the programme
  • MPO trunks and breakouts, high-count singlemode and multimode fibre, AOC and DAC, copper and out-of-band, installed to the drawings and port maps
  • Quality at every stage: dressing, labelling, end-face inspection and cleaning, testing and certification
  • Safety on site: RAMS, permits, inductions and toolbox talks
  • Coordination with the client's site team, the main contractor and the other trades
  • Progress reported rack by rack, and as-built records that match the hall at handover

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years on multi-megawatt hyperscale data centre connectivity deployments, including leading crews on site
  • Hands-on with MPO/MTP trunks, cassettes and breakouts, AOC and DAC, and fibre polarity
  • Fibre testing and certification (OLTS, OTDR, end-face inspection) and the records that go with it
  • Comfortable working from drawings, rack elevations and port maps, and managing change on site
  • Calm and decisive when the programme gets tight, with a strong safety record
  • A valid passport, and happy to spend extended periods on site across EMEA and APAC

Nice to have

  • AI and GPU cluster fabrics: backend, frontend and storage networks
  • SMSTS or SSSTS, IOSH, CSCS; BICSI or CNIDP
  • Languages for sites in EMEA or Asia-Pacific

What we offer

  • Permanent and contract positions: a competitive salary or day rate
  • Travel and accommodation covered on deployment
  • Flagship hyperscale and AI programmes across two regions
  • One method on every site: the drawings, testing and records are already set up
  • The backing and stability of the GS Group

  • Organised, driven

    Working style

  • Uncapped

    Commission

  • Permanent

    Contract

About the role

The job is roughly half new business and half account management. You'll find and win new clients, look after the ones we have so they give us more work, and build relationships with the partners who bring us into their projects. You don't need to be an engineer: our technical and delivery team scopes and prices the work with you.

What you'll do

  • Win new business with data centre operators, colocation providers and enterprise IT teams
  • Build and manage your own pipeline, from first conversation to signed proposal
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts
  • Build relationships with IT resellers, distributors and contractors who bring us into their projects
  • Work with our delivery team on scoping, pricing and proposals
  • Represent Optronix at industry events such as Data Centre World
  • Keep the CRM up to date and report on pipeline and forecast

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years' B2B sales experience, ideally selling services rather than products
  • A sales record with real numbers you can talk through
  • A background in data centres, IT services, telecoms, structured cabling, M&E, facilities or an IT reseller
  • Comfortable finding new clients and managing long-term accounts
  • Organised, and good at following up
  • Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK

Nice to have

  • Existing contacts in data centre, colocation or hyperscale
  • Experience selling through channel partners
  • Knowledge of data centre build, migration or operations services

What we offer

  • Uncapped commission
  • Top-of-market base salary
  • Company car and unlimited holiday
  • Hybrid working
  • A small team with direct access to the directors, so decisions are quick
  • The backing of GS Group, with clear progression as the sales team grows
