Design Assumptions & Expectations
Basis of design — all indicative / budgetary, subject to survey & coordinated drawings
- Geometry per client PDF: 8 rows, 26 positions/row, row length 15,850 mm, rack pair pitch 1067 mm, hall 32,820 × 21,980 mm = ~720 m². AFFL: rack top 2300 / T1 2650 / T2 2900 / T3 3150 / T4 3400 / soffit 3800; IEC units 2200; ancillary block 2400; pillars → 4300.
- Phasing: R001–R004 live · R005 half (bottom live) · R006–R008 future; 114 live · 90 future · 204 racks (208 grid less 4 pillar gaps) — budgetary, no definitive rack schedule supplied.
- Hot aisles = narrow, cold = wide (matches client labelling). Bridges, HAC & exhaust over hot aisles only.
- All containment 600×100 mm; AUX 400×50; MMR secure trunking 600 wide ("1000 mm into room" = penetration depth, not width).
- Busbar = Legrand Starline 800 A — Optronix indicative assumption pending Hyperscale confirmation (client pack shows no busbar). 16 runs (2 per row × 8 rows) at row length 15.85 m + 0.5 m end-feed allowance per run. Heaviest live row R001 sits at 780 kVA = 1,085 A per feed on single-feed N+C fault (~868 A at 0.8 diversity) — at the 800 A limit; Hyperscale may require upsize to 1000 / 1250 A or two split-pair busways per row depending on the load-profile / diversity / sizing rule. Each live rack has 2 tap-offs (A+B feeds), amp-banded by kVA (≤15 kVA → 32 A, 30 kVA → 63 A — TBC at design).
- Cross-aisle bridges (T3 + T4 only) over the 4 hot aisles, 3 bridges per aisle = 12 bridges per tier × 2 tiers = 24 total, ≈ 1.7 m each.
- Trapeze hung from the existing suspended ceiling grid (site survey), not the slab; ~1.5 m centres; single stack spanning all tiers; 2 threaded rods × 1.15 m drop (3800→2650) per support.
- HAC = fully contained hot aisle, clear perspex panels (1.5 m tall, rack-top→ceiling) on both sides + fixed end panels; sliding doors floor→rack-top at both ends. Whole aisle exhausts into the open ceiling (no discrete chimneys).
- LV / structured cabling is explicitly OUT of Optronix scope at this stage — a separate, later package. Sheet-6 WAPs / outlets shown for reference only; locations TBC by ID/ND; budgetary figures only at tender stage.
- Material quantities apply +5% allowance, rounded up to whole metres / whole units (column in the take-off table) for ordering — applied to material lengths and estimated items only. Defined counts (racks, PDUs, tap-offs, doors, panel sets, by-others) carry no contingency. Commercial / risk reserve is separate from this ordering allowance.
Risks & Clarifications (RFIs)
Items to resolve with Operator / Hyperscale before construction issue
- RFI Client sheets 4 & 5 share drawing no. 3303 (sheet 5 should be 3304).
- RFI Electrical design drawings for T1/T2 + busbar not supplied — busbar/tap-off/PDU is an Optronix design overlay.
- RFI Busbar rating — 800 A is an Optronix assumption. Worst live row (R001) = 26×30 kVA = 780 kVA = ~1,085 A per feed on single-feed N+C fault; ~868 A even at 0.8 diversity. Hyperscale to confirm: (a) per-row peak kVA cap, (b) diversity factor, (c) single-feed sizing rule (full failover vs shared-load). Likely upsize to 1000 A or 1250 A, or split into two busway pairs per row, depending on Hyperscale's answer.
- RFI MMR secure trunking run length & scope boundary (trunking by others?).
- RFI HAC vs CAC — client "indicative only"; confirm Optronix HAC + whole-aisle open-ceiling exhaust.
- RFI Trapeze fixing substrate — client sectional (sheet 8) shows fixing to the structural slab; Optronix design (per site survey) fixes the trapeze into the existing suspended ceiling grid at 3800. Confirm acceptance of the ceiling-grid substrate for trapeze loading.
- RFI Pillars (R007 in-row · open avenue · R002 in-row) 400×400 →4300 — verify positions/size vs CAD.
- RFI Rack supply scope — model shows 114 live (Day-1 populated) + 90 future positions (204 racks, 208 grid). No definitive rack schedule in the client pack: confirm exact Day-1 supply quantity, per-rack workload/kVA split, and whether future-position racks are supplied Day-1.
- RFI Sheet-6 LV outlets — confirm which to represent; full structured cabling is a later package.
- RFI NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION — tender stage caveat (per client sheet notes 2–5): do not scale; verify all dimensions on site; Optronix to issue coordinated working drawings if appointed.
- Risk: 800 A busbar (Optronix indicative assumption) is undersized for single-feed N+C fault load on the heaviest rows — R001 at 780 kVA = ~1,085 A (or ~868 A at 0.8 diversity). Resolution sits with the RFI above on busbar rating; tender pricing stays at 800 A pending Hyperscale confirmation, but commercial allowance should anticipate possible upsize.

Method / Delivery Approach

Site induction, permit-to-work, and a full dimensional survey to confirm the client pack against as-built before any fixing. All RFIs (busbar rating, MMR scope, trapeze substrate) closed with Operator/Hyperscale at this stage.
Establish a single setting-out datum and tier AFFL lines (2650 / 2900 / 3150 / 3400). Containment, busbar and HAC all hung to the same datum so 2D, 3D and install stay coordinated.
Trapeze hung from the existing ceiling grid (per site survey, not the slab) at ~1.5 m centres, single stack spanning all four tiers — installed ahead of containment so every tier lands on completed support.
T1/T2 power baskets, then T3/T4 comms with cross-aisle bridges over the hot aisles, then the AUX 400×50 with risers to T3. MMR basket tie-in coordinated with the trunking installer (by others).
Busbar (Legrand Starline — rating TBC by Hyperscale), tap-offs amp-banded by rack kVA, and 0U vertical PDUs on the hot-aisle side. Energisation only after Hyperscale electrical sign-off.
Phase-1 live racks (R001–R004 + R005 lower half) positioned and PDU-dressed, then the clear-perspex HAC enclosure and end sliding doors, with the ceiling left open over each hot aisle for full-aisle exhaust.
Containment continuity/bonding, busbar and tap-off verification, HAC fit & door operation, and a coordinated commissioning witnessed by Operator/Hyperscale.
Joint snagging, as-installed mark-ups feeding the O&M / record drawings, and handover. Future rows (Phase-2) provisioned but mobilised separately.
